“In this role I work in production, being people working on the ships. At the moment, we’re going through an ANZAC Midlife Capability Assurance Program (AMCAP). My role is to support the mechanical side of upgrades.
The design is done in Melbourne and when it comes to Henderson, we get involved in fitting out the items, testing the items, making sure they’re commissioned well. In terms of the mechanical space, specifically this role, I was interested because it’s a construction hull, so you get to see the trades and all of the construction and manufacturing starting.
The opportunities that [defence industry] presents is the highlight for me.”
